Tacoma Musical Playhouse is proud to produce the Tacoma Children's Musical Theater (TCMT) … offering musical theater versions of classic children's literature for family audiences. These colorful and lively productions bring to the stage some of our most adored literary characters, performed by many of your favorite TMP mainstage actors. Recent productions of Pinocchio, Alice in Wonderland, Bunnicula, Heidi and others have created the perfect incentive to plan a "family date" and enjoy a trip to the theater. The TCMT 2009-2010 season opens this fall with the extraordinarily popular Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business! The ever-precocious kindergartener, "Junie B." has become one of the most recognizable characters from books today.

Upon the arrival of her new baby brother, "Junie B." won't have anything at all to do with him...that is until she hears Grandma refer to him as the "cutest little monkey." Now, Junie B. can't wait to bring the best show-and-tell subject ever to class: a real live monkey! The show includes all of Junie's friends from the series: "That Grace," "Princess Lucille," "Crybaby William," "Meanie Jim" and more. With lessons of identity, change and the inevitable trials of childhood woven with a little "monkey business", this show is not to be missed!

Junie B. Jones and a Little Monkey Business is based on the wildly popular series of books by Barbara Parks, with the script, music and lyrics by Joan Cushing. Directed by Chris Serface, the show features many of the adult performers from the TMP stage including Taylor Niemeyer (TMP's "Dorothy" from the summer blockbuster The Wizard of OZ) as Junie B.!

The production runs November 7-15, 2009. Performances are Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm. All seating is assigned and advanced purchase is strongly recommended. TMP is also offering two mid-week matinee performances for school groups at 10:30 am on Nov. 10th and 12th. These two performances will sell-out, so groups are encouraged to reserve as early as possible. All performances will take place at Tacoma Musical Playhouse, 7116 6th Ave. Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for students, seniors and military, and $10 for children 12 and younger. Group rates are available. For tickets or more information, please visit www.tmp.org or call the TMP Box Office at 253-565-6867. This production is suitable for all ages.
