Monty Python's Spamalot continues making history across the United States, as the National Tour begins performances tonight, Tuesday, December 11 in Washington, DC at The National TheatreMonty Python's Spamalot returns to Washington following a sold-out run at The National Theatre in June, 2006.  The current engagement will play through Sunday, January 6.

Featuring a chorus line of dancing divas and knights, flatulent Frenchmen, a killer rabbit and one legless knight, Monty Python's Spamalot will next be seen in Schenectady, NY beginning Tuesday, January 8.

Lovingly "ripped-off" from the internationally famous comedy team's most popular motion picture, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Spamalot is the winner of three 2005 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Director (Mike Nichols), as well as the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Musical.

The original cast recording of Monty Python's Spamalot won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.

Monty Python's Spamalot features a book and lyrics by Eric Idle, music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle, direction by Mike Nichols, choreography by Casey Nicholaw and is based on the screenplay of Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Monty Python creators Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin, with an entirely new score with two songs from the 1975 film and the Python classic "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life" from 1979's The Life of Brian.

Monty Python's Spamalot in Washington, DC plays at The National Theatre (1321 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW) Tuesday through Saturday Evenings at 8pm; Sunday Evenings at 7:30 pm;  and Saturday and Sunday Matinees at 2pm.  Two added performances: Thurs 12/27 at 2pm and 12/31 (New Year's Eve) at 7pm.  There are no evening performances on 12/25 or 1/1.  $46.50 - $91.50, tickets on sale through Telecharge only at (800) 447-7400 and online at www.telecharge.com. In addition to the national touring production, Monty Python's Spamalot on Broadway continues to do record business, a London production opened last fall to rave reviews at London's Palace Theatre, a Las Vegas production opened at Wynn Las Vegas in the spring of 2007, and a Melbourne, Australia production opened to rave critical acclaim at Her Majesty's Theatre earlier this month.
