Olney Theatre Center Announces 'Ebony, Ivory and Ink' Cabaret, 5/4 & 5

Olney Theatre Center today announced two special cabaret performances by DC- Area favorites Felicia Curry, George Dvorsky, JJ Kaczynski, Tracy Lynn Olivera and Chris Youstra called Ebony, Ivory and Ink. The cabaret will feature some of the most beloved musical classics and is scheduled to take to Olney Theatre Center's Mainstage on Friday, May 4 and Saturday May 5, 2012.

Ebony, Ivory and Ink will showcase the music of George and Ira Gershwin, The Sherman Brothers, Scott Joplin, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Billy Joel, Jason Robert Brown, Franz Schubert, Menken & Ashman, Elton John and other songwriters. It celebrates theatre and music through the piano player's view.

"I am very excited to direct this cabaret for Olney Theatre Center since I have been dreaming of creating it for over ten years," said Musical Director, Chris Youstra. "This performance will showcase musical classics as well as hold delightful surprises for audiences."

DC Theatre goers will recognize Ebony, Ivory and Ink's performers from not only from previous Olney Theatre Center productions but other area theatres as well. George Dvorsky has been seen in Olney Theatre Center's winter productions of Annie and The Sound of Music in addition to his appearance in Passion on Broadway. His voice has also been heard in Disney classics, such as Beauty and the Beast and Pocahontas.

JJ Kaczynski has been seen in Olney Theatre Center's productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Triumph of Love and Foreigner and has received Helen Hayes nominations for his performance of Snoopy at Round House Theatre and Pirelli in Signature Theatre's Sweeney Todd.

Audiences will recognize Tracy Lynn Olivera from previous Olney Theatre Center's productions including, Carousel (Helen Hayes Award-nominated), The Sound of Music (Helen Hayes Award-nominated) and West Side Story as well as Fastrada in Roundhouse Theatre's Pippin and Mrs. Cratchit in Fords Theatre's production of A Christmas Carol.

Chris Youstra most recently the music directed for Olney Theatre Center's production of You're a Good Man,Charlie Brown, which finished running in March. The seven-time Helen Hayes Award Nominee and Helen Hayes Award Recipient for the Musical Direction for Titanic: The Musical in 2008, also musically directed the Olney Theatre Center hit musicals Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Annie, Camelot, Peter Pan and 1776. Youstra is the Resident Music Director of Olney Theater Center and has worked on over 20 productions at the Theatre.

Although she is new to Olney Theatre Center, Felicia Curry has been seen in multiple productions across the region, including Fords Theatre's A Christmas Carol and Little Shop of Horrors. Curry was also Helen Hayes Award-nominated for her performance in Les Misérables at Signature Theatre.

"We are honored that these performers have taken time out of their schedules to create this one-of-a-kind production for Olney Theatre Center," said Olney Theatre Center's Managing Director, Amy Marshall. "All of the proceeds from the performances will go directly to our educational and outreach programs, which will help develop the next generation of DC area performers such as this cast."
