A premiere collaboration between D.C.-based performing ensemble force/collision and OBIE award-winning playwright Caridad Svich, JARMAN (all this maddening beauty) kicks off a 3-city performance tour on October 19 at Dance Place in their newly renovated space in Northeast D.C.

Inspired by artist, activist and gardener Derek Jarman, JARMAN merges archival home movies, new video, sound and live performance to reconstruct the essence of the cult figure, artistic legacy and punk movement. JARMAN brings together a community of over 40 performers through video and sound, manipulated in real time in a daring and vulnerable solo performance by force/collision Founding Director John Moletress. Two artistic stories meld, unravel, collapse and find each other again as the past and present collide. Following Dance Place, JARMAN will perform in London on October 23 as part of underground, King's College's 2014 Arts & Humanities Festival. JARMAN will then move to Unity Theatre in Liverpool on November 4 & 5 as part of Homotopia, the UK's foremost LGBT art & cultural festival.

This performance will be presented at Dance Place in a double-bill with Dance Box Theatre's premiere of Windswept, performed by Stephen Clapp beginning at 7:00pm.
