The Highwood Theatre's Open Source Theatre Project presents its debut production, Everyone's A Critic, an audience-immersive and actor-crafted murder mystery. Written by Highwood Resident Artists David Engoron and Jacob Kresloff, this play experiments with an audience-directed narrative in the form of a hair-raising murder mystery. Working together, actors and audience must answer the classic question: who dunnit?

Highwood's Open Source Theatre Project aims to challenge popular conceptions of the theatre art form. We believe that theatre is an organic and collaborative effort. In Everyone's A Critic, we share the creative process with our audience members, welcoming all into the creative undertaking, as we minimize the divisions between writer, actor, and audience.

Everyone's A Critic is co-directed by Jacob Kresloff, Highwood's Dramaturg and Teaching Artist and Abe Woycke, Highwood's Managing Director. It features Claire Coyle (Delia Steppling), Julia D'Ambrosi (Manny Schwartz), Sha Golanski (Marcel DuPont), Peter Orvetti (Anthony Pritchard-Gallagher), Cristen Stephansky (Cam Tennyson), Damia Torhagen (Sam Stiles), and Erin Wagner (Jules Montgomery).

The Highwood Theatre is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the community together through theatre. Our guiding principle is "anyone can do theatre." Now in its 11th season, Highwood began with ten seasons of professional quality theatre featuring all student casts, design teams, and production staff. In conjunction with its relocation to the heart of downtown Silver Spring in 2013, The Highwood Theatre expanded to develop and provide innovative, engaging programming for everyone who is interested in theatre, regardless of their age, experience level, or training. Through professional and student productions, along with programs for schools and home-schooled students, and opportunities to learn about all aspects of theatre as well as to develop new plays or other innovative concepts, we aim to bring the community together and foster an environment where everyone feels comfortable, supported, and inspired to collaborate, share, appreciate, and create.
