Confirming reports in the Broadway Pulse here on BroadwayWorld.con on June 5, the official announcement has been made that the musical adaption of How the Grinch Stole Christmas will make its Broadway debut at the Hilton Theatre, running from November 8 through January 7. Previews of the show will begin on October 25th.

The production has been running at The Old Globe Theater in San Diego successfully where it's reportedly sold-out for 8 years. Created and conceived by Tony-winner Jack O'Brien (who will supervise the NY production as well). The musical will be directed by Matt August, whose credits include Sixteen Wounded and Baby Taj. The show in its Old Globe incarnation featured book and lyrics by Timothy Mason, music by Mel Marvin, scenary by John Lee Beatty, choreography by John DeLuca.

Based on the classic 1957 Christmas story by Dr. Seuss, this is the story of a Christmas-hating Grinch who tries to steal Christmas from the Christmas-loving Whos by taking all of their presents and decorations. But, they and he realize that Christmas is in their hearts, not under their trees.
