The Thespis Theatre Company will offer its next production in residence at Sandglass Theater, Putney, VT, the first three weekends in March.

The Trip to Bountiful premiered March 1, 1953 on NBC-TV and later that year on Broadway. In 1985 it was made into a film starring Geraldine Page, who won the Academy Award that year for best actress. Set in the early 1950s, the play tells the story of an elderly woman, Carrie Watts, who wants to return home to the small town where she grew up, but is always stopped from leaving Houston by her daughter-in-law and overprotective son. Mrs. Watts is determined to outwit her son and bossy daughter-in-law, and sets out to catch a bus to her childhood home of Bountiful to reclaim her heritage and her soul.

The play is directed by Larry K. Bramble.

The cast includes Jim Bombicino, Laura Casey, Paul Gustafson, Nan Mann, Jim Robinson, and Nancy Stephens.

The Players will take the stage, at the Sandglass Theater, Friday nights, March 5, 12, and 19 and on Saturday nights, March 6, 13, and 20 at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees on March 7, 14, and 21 at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $15.

Reservations can be made by calling (802) 387-4314. Seating is limited.
