The Grift Celebrate at Town Hall Theater, 11/16

The music scene in Middlebury is jumping. Two Brothers Tavern, 51 Main and Town Hall Theater offer a wide range of music every week of the year. And now the town has its own recording studio.

Popular local musicians Clint Bierman (The Grift) and John Wallace (The Horse Traders) have joined forces to open a state-of-the-art-recording studio in the heart of town on Main Street, above Mendy’s. They’re calling it LionTone Studios, and to celebrate the opening The Grift will pull out all of the stops for a dance at Town Hall Theater on Friday, November 16.
“We have a long association with Clint Bierman,” says THT executive director Douglas Anderson. “The Grift has played here many times, and one of Clint’s other bands, Tomorrow Never Knows, had a huge success last year with two nights of Beatles covers. He also invented the hugely popular School of Rock & Roll for local teens, which is one of the most exciting things that happens around here. So it was natural to celebrate the new recording studio with a big blow-out at THT.”

Any new business is worth celebrating these days, but LionTone fills a particular void. It will draw bands from all over Vermont and it highlights Middlebury as a very exciting place to make music.

The Grift’s Celebration of LionTone Studios will happen at Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater on Friday, November 16 at 8 pm. Tickets are $12. THT’s huge floor will be cleared for dancing, and a cash bar and snacks will be available. Tickets may be purchased at 802 382-9222, at the THT Box Office (Mon-Sat, noon-5 pm) or at the door.
