Saint Michael's Playhouse Presents ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, Now thru 7/26

Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Chuck Tobin today announced the opening of Joseph Kesselring's classic Broadway comedy Arsenic and Old Lace (today, July 16 - 26, 2014).

Arsenic and Old Lace is an inventively witty Broadway comedy classic. Spinster sisters Abby and Martha Brewster are famous in their Brooklyn neighborhood for their generosity and kindness. But they have recently taken on a new charity project - relieving older gentlemen of loneliness by poisoning them with home-made elderberry wine laced with "just a pinch" of arsenic.

"This is one of the American theater's all time funniest plays," says Producing Artistic Director Chuck Tobin. "Starting in 1941 it ran on Broadway for 1,500 performances. Last fall when we were deciding on what plays to produce this season, I was reading through the script and it struck me - the time is right for a full scale professional revival of this warm, comforting, and hilarious show. With its stellar cast and gorgeous production elements this production is sure to be a hit. Saint Michael's Playhouse shows sell out quickly so be sure to get your tickets as soon as you can."

Directed by Mark Alan Gordon Arsenic and Old Lace features professional acting company members Sarah Carleton as Abby Brewster, Brenda Pitmon as Martha Brewster, Zac Hoogendyk as Mortimer Brewster, Scott Cote as Teddy Brewster, Christian Kohn as Jonathan Brewster, Bill Carmichael as Dr. Einstein, Amanda Ryan Paige as Elaine, Justin Quackenbush as Officer O'Hara. Also appearing are local actors Frank Kehoe as Rev. Harper/Mr. Witherspoon, Paul Ugalde as Mr. Gibbs/Detective Rooney, Adam Cunningham as Officer Brophy, David Harcourt as Officer Klein.

Performances begin on the Playhouse stage on Wednesday, July 16. Performances are evenings 7/16 -19 and 22 - 26 (8pm curtain), and Saturday matinees 7/19, 7/26, (2pm curtain).
