Sir Henry Irving Double Bill Set for Park Theatre

ACS Random are delighted to announce the cast for their third production at Park Theatre; a double bill of The Knight From Nowhere and The Bells, celebrating the life of Sir Henry Irving, theatre's first knight, and in honour of the 110th anniversary of his death. The Knight From Nowhere, written by Andrew Shepherd, and Leopold Lewis's The Bells, adapted by Shepherd, both run in a double bill at PARK90 from 24 November - 19 December. Press Night is Wednesday 25th November, 7pm.
The cast for both plays includes: Alethea Steven as Nelly Moore; Alexandra Parry as Annette; Andrew Shepherd as Henry Irving & Mathias; Angela Ferns as Ellen Terry; Charlie Allen as Bram Stoker, ED Davis & Christian; John-Paul Conway as George Bernard Shaw & The Mesmerist; Lynsey-Anne Moffat as Mary Brodribb & Catherine; Richard Woolnough as Leopold Lewis & Hans; Rosemarie Lovegrove as Sozel; Simon Blake as The Clerk.
The Knight from Nowhere sees Sir Henry Irving, the greatest actor of the 19th century, arriving on stage dressed for the wrong play. Discovering he is lately deceased, Irving faces his final judgement in a whirlwind theatrical tour of his life, loves and memorable roles. Featuring a host of characters from Hamlet, Ophelia and Shylock to Ellen Terry, Bram Stoker and George Bernard Shaw, The Knight From Nowhere is a funny, touching and vibrant tale of the champion of the first actor to be knighted.
As an extra festive bonus The Bells, the play that made Irving famous overnight, will also be performed as part of the evening to recreate one of the most iconic productions of the Victorian Theatre. Christmas Eve 1834 - a prosperous local mayor is haunted by a horrific murder he committed 15 years ago. The Bells originally opened to a small house on 25th November 1871 but his performance made Henry Irving an overnight star, leading to his ascension as the greatest actor of the 19th century and the story of The Knight From Nowhere.
Director Lucy Foster was the Assistant Director for ACS Random's Hamlet at Park Theatre last year. Most recently, she has directed two short plays for Short(s)wave earlier this year, Bread and Roses and Bare Essentials.
Andrew Shepherd's writing credits include The Shakespeare Conspiracy (Chelsea Theatre), The Trial of Sir Henry Irving (Lately Deceased) (Courtyard at Covent Garden), Cloning Adam (Barons Court Theatre/C Venues/Los Angeles Community Theater), Messenger (C Venues), Whispers in the Wood (C Venues, Edinburgh transferring to St Mark's Theater, New York) and Therapy (Gulbenkian Studio Theatre, Newcastle). He also co-wrote the award winning short film adaption of Hans Christian Andersen's 'Big Claus and Little Claus' starring Stephen Fry and the feature film 'Showreel' with Matthew Kelly, Patrick Ryecart & Jeany Spark.
