Sinead Matthews and More Star in TROUT STANLEY's UK Premiere at Southwark Playhouse, Now thru Dec 7

Set in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, Grace and Sugar Ducharme are infamous twins marked by tragic events from their past: their triplet died in the birth canal, and on their twentieth birthday their mother was killed while their father was split in half by lightening. As if this wasn't bad enough, each year on their birthday Grace finds a dead body. But this birthday will be different - it's lucky thirty!

Unfortunately for the sisters, a serial killer with a fancy for strippers is on the loose...

In the midst of their birthday celebration, a nomadic cop killer, Trout Stanley, wanders into their house. Just like the Ducharme sisters, Trout has major "sibling issues" - his unborn twin brother is trapped inside his body.

This production of Trout Stanley is directed by award winning Canadian director and actor Matt Steinberg. Having assisted on projects in London throughout 2013 such as A Time to Reap at Royal Court Theatre, directed by Caroline Steinbeis, and Secret Theatre currently playing at the Lyric Hammersmith, Trout Stanley is Matt's UK directorial debut. Matt has been awarded funding by Arts Council England to support the transition from assisting to directing at this point in his career.

Claudia Dey is a Toronto-born playwright, novelist and nationally syndicated advice columnist. Her work has been recognised with nominations for a Governor General's Award, a Trillium Book Award and anAmazon.ca First Novel Award. Claudia's writing explores themes of loss and mourning, which she calls the "process of alchemising grief". Interested in questions of belonging, Claudia's work questions how we find ourselves when all obvious markers that form our identity are gone. Claudia's first novel Stunt was published in 2008. In 2010 she published How to Be A Bush Pilot: A Field Guide to Getting Luckier, a sex and relationship advice book for men that draws on her experience writing columns for The Globe and Mail and Toro. Claudia's plays include Beaver, The Gwendolyn Poems and Trout Stanley. Her plays have been presented across Canada, the United States and Europe. Trout Stanley was nominated for a Dora Award and went on to have its off-Broadway premiere in 2006, followed by successful productions at regional theatres across North America and Germany. It was named one of the best Canadian plays of the last decade by The National Post's Robert Cushman and the best play in 2005 by Toronto's NOW Magazine. In 2010 Trout Stanley was adapted into an opera by composer Daniel Fueter.

Director Matt Steinberg's credits include Art and Scope (Tarragon Theatre) and Prime Targets (Toronto Fringe). He was an assistant director for The Canadian Stage Company's Romeo and Juliet, A Time to Reap (Royal Court), and Secret Theatre (Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith).

Sinéad Matthews trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Recent theatre credits include Complicite's Master and Margarita (Barbican and tour), A Time to Reap (Royal Court Theatre), The Changeling, The Glass Menagerie (Young Vic), Ecstasy (Hampstead Theatre). In 2006 Sinéad won the Ian Charleson 2nd Award for Outstanding Newcomer Award for her role as Hedvig in The Wild Duck directed by Michael Grandage (Donmar Warehouse). Film credits include Untitled Mike Leigh 2013, The Boat That Rocked, Half Broken Things, Men Are Wonderful, Pride and Prejudice and Vera Drake.

Vinette Robinson was the recipient of the 2012 Clarence Derwent Award for her performance as Ophelia in Hamlet (Young Vic) and also won the 2012 Off West End Award for Best Female Performance in Tender Napalm (Southwark Playhouse). Other theatre credits include Welcome To Thebes (National Theatre), Darker Shores (Hampstead Theatre), Sugar Mummies (Royal Court Theatre) and Speaking Like Magpies, Sejanus, A New Way to Please You and Thomas Moore for (Royal Shakespeare Company). Television credits include three series of Sherlock.

Dylan Smith's theatre credits include Private Lives with Kim Cattrall (Toronto and Broadway), The Post Office (Pleiades Theatre), Blasted (Buddies in Bad Times), Zadie's Shoes (Finborough), Don Carlos (Soulpepper), Golden Swords (Shakespeare's Globe).
