Sink is a new one-woman show written and devised by a small company of just two women - the director, Helena Middleton, and the actor, Olivia Emden. Following the recent success of other one-woman shows such as Fleabag and The Edge of Our Bodies, Sink explores similar issues yet portrayed through a vastly different lens. A narrative made up solely of anecdotes that have occurred in a bathroom, this is a one-woman show with a difference. Through dental floss, and fluoride, shower-caps and shampoo, Sink makes its audience privy to a young girl's life and her relationship with her mother, in a wholly original and unexpected way. Playing around with the idea of storytelling, Sink promises laughs, penguins, and a tender portrayal of human relations, all around a bathroom sink. A black comedy with original music composed by Bristol based music producer Jack Drewry.

Helena Middleton is a founding member of, and performer with, the internationally acclaimed company The Wardrobe Ensemble, a company dedicated to creating devised ensemble based theatre. The company's shows include the touring productions RIOT (National Theatre, The Shed, UK/US your 2011-2014), which won the Best Ensemble Stage Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2011, 33 (Bristol Old Vic, 2013), and a Christmas show, Eliza and the Wild Swans (Bikeshed Theatre, 2013).

Olivia Emden is a founding member of, and performer with, the award-winning Footfall Theatre Company - an all-female production company dedicated to giving women a greater voice in theatre, and adapting much loved stories for contemporary audiences. After playing Cordelia in Footfall's production of Lear's Daughters, Olivia now returns to the challenges of a one-woman show, having previously performed solo as Woman in Neil LaBute's monologue play bash (Corpus Playroom, 2012), and Bess in a one-woman show written for The Camden Fringe Festival, Gender the Elephant (The Collection Theatre, 2013). She also has experience writing and devising, having been part of a comedy sketch group, Faces, which performed with The Footlights (ADC Theatre and Corpus Playroom, 2012).

Helena and Olivia have worked together before on The Marlowe Showcase, which performed at The Trafalgar Studios earlier this year, and are now looking forward to embarking on this project together. With a strong foundation in devising theatre and ensemble work, they are both excited to bring their diverse skill sets to create an original and stimulating piece of theatre.
