Most shows performed by colleges have a life span on average of two performances but students from Warrington, Cheshire, a North West town in the UK are defying educational history by performing the hit Broadway show Seussical- The Musical for a two week run at Warrington Collegiate from 9th-22nd January 2012.

On Sunday 29th January the students will also be performing extracts from Seussical-The Musical in London at her Majesty's Theatre, home of The Phantom, for ‘Sunday Night Live.' This is a great opportunity for the students as troupes from all around Europe have been invited to perform Musical Theatre Numbers.

The children's favourite musical, based on the books by Dr. Seuss, is a showcase of the rising talents of students studying Musical Theatre at Warrington Collegiate. "As far as I can tell a two week run of a musical is a UK first for an F.E. college." states James Baker, course leader and director for the show. "We train students in a vocational setting and offer them the opportunity to experience the reality of a working actor. The fact that we're running Seussical for an impressive sixteen shows allows them to gain essential skills for this tough industry. They aspire to be top class professional actors and this is truly a reality experience."

It is not the first time Warrington Collegiate's Musical Theatre have exceeded expectations. Since the course began four years ago, they have won twelve national awards for the standard of their work in Musical Theatre, even being asked by the Learning Skills Council to perform at the NT Awards at the Horticultural Halls, London. Warrington Collegiate has been rated by Edexcel, the awarding body, as operating far above national standards. The previous production, Bad Girls - The Musical, was a sell-out week, receiving rave reviews from industry professionals. Watching the show was LeAnne Jones who played Tracy Turnblad in the West End version of Hairspray. She said, "It is as good as any London fringe show I have seen this year". The quality of both shows and training has meant that many students have progressed to study at top drama schools such as Rose Bruford and Italia Conti.

The show itself is being staged in-the-round as an interactive and immersive experience for its audience. It is a definite for all ages and a great cure for those post-Christmas blues. Seussical runs from the 9th- 22nd January. Tickets are £8 and can be purchased by visiting www.eventelephant.com/seuss.
