Photo Flash: First Look- Puppets in Iris Theatre's Promenade Version of PINOCCHIO in Covent Garden

After last summer''s Alice Through the Looking Glass, Iris Theatre returns for a 7th year of its celebrated summer season in the gardens of St Paul''s Church, Covent Garden. Check out photos of the puppets below!

Today we unveil the puppets specially created for their new family friendly version of the classic story Pinocchio, about the adventures of a head-strong little puppet boy. They were created for the production by Puppet Maker Alicia Britt. Alicia had a physical theatre background before joining her love of making and theatre on the renowned Technical Arts and Special Effects at Wimbledon College of Art. Puppet and costume props soon became a specialty fusing physical performance with prop making. She has run workshops on puppetry, mask and physical theatre with young people such as at the International Youth Arts Festival.

Keen to prove he is as quick and clever as any real little boy, Pinocchio leaves his Pappa far behind. On a fantastical journey, Pinocchio meets a speaking cat, a dancing fox, a sneaky snake and a child who turns into a donkey; but as he''s swallowed up whole by a ship-guzzling dogfish it looks like Pinocchio will never become a real little boy...

Carlo Collodi''s fantastical version of 19th Century Tuscany is full to the brim with travelling carnivals, talking animals, fairies and foolish puppets.

Pinoccho, by Carlo Collodi in a newly commissioned version by Dan Winder and Candida Calidcott, the same team who brought you the celebrated and award nominated Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass over the last two summers.will play from Wednesday 29 July - Saturday 29 August.

Packed full of fantastic songs and wonderful characters, this is set to be a feast for all the family.
