Think Tank is a new live show and podcast, which mixes political debate with stand up comedy. The premise of the show is that stand up comedians from the live, TV and radio circuit are given five minutes each to propose and argue for a policy of their choice which is then debated by a cross party panel of politicians.

The show is hosted by Joe Wells, produced by Joe Wells and the New Theatre Royal and recorded at the Square Tower in Portsmouth. Each show will be themed around a political or sociopolitical topic with the first show being themed around 'education'.

Host, Joe Wells, is a stand up comedian who has been on the live circuit for around five years over which he has gained critical acclaim, won awards and supported Alexei Sayle on tour.

In our first show three of the best comedians working today will put forward their education policies in the first show. Joining Joe Wells on the panel will be critically acclaimed Romesh Ranganathan, Andrew O'Neill and political comedian Gráinne Maguire.

The show will run for around 1 hour with an introductory monologue from Joe Wells followed by each policy being proposed in turn by the comedians in a stand up monologue and then debated by the cross party panel (to be announced soon) chaired by Wells. There will also be opportunities within those debates for questions from the audience. The show will be recorded live, and put out uncut on the Internet.

The show will take place on the 31st of March at 8.00pm. Tickets will be available from www.newtheatreroyal.com.
