Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, in London, has extended the application deadline for international students to May 22 for its brand new MA programme in Writing Musicals. Those interested in bookwriting/lyric writing are particularly encouraged to apply.
The MA in Writing Musicals is the only course of its kind in Europe; it will provide practical training and experience in the art and craft of writing musicals. This full-time course focuses on the development of collaborative creative artists, not only in the craft and skills of writing and composing musical theatre, but also in the business of getting work developed and produced. The MA in Writing Musicals will be led by musical theatre writer and lyricist Jenifer Toksvig (who most recently was the bookwriter for the workshop production of the Alan Menken musical Atina Evil Queen of the Galaxy), along with writer and composer Rob Hartmann (a member of the faculty of the NYU Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program since 1999.) The programme includes opportunities to make connections with both British and international musical theatre writers and composers, through collaboration with writers and composers from the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, and Uterus, Denmark's musical theatre development programme.Videos
