My Mum The Chemo Ninja, a one-woman show about why grief's not just about losing but laughing, debuts at Otherplace at The Basement for four nights in May as part of the Brighton Fringe 2015.

Written & performed by Angela Wilson, My Mum The Chemo Ninja has been adapted from her award-nominated blog Funny Matters (www.funnymatters.co.uk) about the loss of her mother to terminal cancer in 2012.

In 2014 Funny Matters was selected by New Writing South to feature in its Good Blog Guide and was nominated for the UK Blog Awards 2015.

Comedy-writer Angela started blogging as way of expressing her experience of her mother's terminal diagnosis and death using her trademark humour.

Angela says "yes, there were times when it was serious, solemn and sombre. But there were also times of normality, laughter and even joy.

As a society we tend not to talk about the darker moments in life. It's important to break the silence on these subjects. Not only for our own benefit, but to reassure others that they are not alone."

My Mum The Chemo Ninja will be directed by John O'Connor of European Arts Company following the West-End success of 'The Trials of Oscar Wilde' at St James' Theatre, London.
