Following a hugely successful run at The Vaults in 2015, Master of the Macabre is returning to London in March. Hot new magical talent Benedict Barber brings his story to the stage - in a script developed by Barber and Matthew Stradling. Directed by Tony Middleton, the production runs for 3 nights from 9th March.

Benedict Barber is a magician with a taste for the ghoulish and grisly.

In Master of the Macabre, he takes the audience on a dark autobiographical journey - from his introduction to magic at the age of just five through the trickery he employed at school to alarm his fellow pupils and terrorize his teachers to a shocking experience as a young adult that has shaped his life both on and off the stage.

This immersive theatrical experience will leave you wide-eyed with astonishment and bring you to the edge of your seat with fear. If you're prepared to have your prejudices challenged, your assumptions questioned, your beliefs shaken and your nerves shredded then this is the show for you.

Time Out called the show 'A truly theatrical mixture of twisty plotting and illusion'; The Stage described it as 'Undeniably clever' and A Younger Theatre said it was 'Heaps of fun'.

Master of the Macabre is - quite simply - the most terrifying magic show you will ever see...

Benedict Barber is one of Britain's most exciting new talents, he has honed his particular brand of dark, twisted magic on the streets of London and Master of the Macabre is his first solo stage show.

Matthew Stradling is a writer and film and theatre producer. A graduate of the Royal Court Young Writers' Programme, he runs Triple S Films - the Production Company behind Pimp featuring Danny Dyer, Billy Boyd and Barbara Nedeljakova. Triple S Films have supernatural thriller The Haunting in post-production and a number of other film projects in development. In addition, under his and Tony Middleton's Secret Soiree banner he ran Magic & Mixology at The Vaults on various dates in 2016 and produced The Vienna Experiment which featured in The London Horror Festival at The Old Red Lion Theatre in October last year.

Tony Middleton is a magician and theatre director. Following sell out runs at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, Hotel Russell and Grand Royale London Hyde Park, his show The Magic Hour plays every week at 10-11 Carlton House Terrace, and received the 2015 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor. Middleton has also appeared on ITV's Penn & Teller: Fool Us with Chris Dugdale, who consults on Master of the Macabre. He has directed magic shows at Riverside Studios, Leicester Square Theatre, Theatre by the Lake, and Assembly and produced and performed in Magic & Mixology at The Vaults and produced The Vienna Experiment at The Old Red Lion.
