Andrew Keates & Theatrica Ltd for The Landor Theatre are kicking off 2012 with the first anniversary of their exciting cabaret season, A Spotlight On... - a series of one night only performances from leading West End and Broadway musical theatre artists. Nineteen artists, along with special guests, will be appearing over the three week run in January and the next six have been announced; they are: Matthew Gent, Andrew Derbyshire, Carl Mullaney, Liz Robertson, George Ure and Lucy Williamson, with a further week of artists soon to be announced, completing the line-up.

‘A Spotlight On...’ gives some of the brightest stars of musical theatre the opportunity to share their favourite songs and stories, both from their careers and personal lives. With the quality of the chosen artists and the honesty of their performances, ‘A Spotlight On…’ has fast become a highly respected cabaret series and season. Grab a drink and get to know the people behind our treasured art form in Clapham?s intimate Landor Theatre, sharing the highs and lows that emanate from this mad business we call show. Their music. Their stories.

After appearing in the final 50, for the ITV show Pop Idol; Andrew Derbyshire was spotted by Queen’s very own Brian May at the auditions of We Will Rock You, offering him the role of understudy to the leading role of Galileo. Andrew then went on to play the title role in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. He has since recorded several albums and made appearances in many other productions and concerts and returns after his sellout show at The Landor in 2011.

Matthew Gent went straight into the West End cast of Les Misérables after drama school. He has since appeared in The Phantom of the Opera, Bright Lights, Big City and the Les Misérables 25th Anniversary celebrations at the O2 Arena. Most recently Matthew appeared in The Landor’s critically acclaimed production of The Hired Man; perfect casting for a county Durham lad!

Carl Mullaney has appeared in the international tour, West End and 10th Anniversary Gala productions of Chicago, playing the role of Mary Sunshine. Other shows have included: Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens, Frank's Closet, Drama Queen and A West End Christmas with Caroline O'Connor. Carl is currently playing the role of Bamatabois in the West End production of Les Misérables as well as the resident host of London's ever-popular Kinky Cabaret. For one night only, an evening is dedicated to him rather than hosting for others.

Liz Robertson made her West End debut in A Little Night Music, subsequently appearing as Eliza Doolittle in the London revival of My Fair Lady, where she received an Olivier Award nomination. Other notable performances have included The Mitford Girls, Maria in The Sound of Music, Anna in The King and I opposite Rudolph Nureyev and Dance a Little Closer, written by her husband Alan Jay Lerner. Liz has played Madame Giri in the original Phantom of The Opera and later went on to create the role in Love Never Dies. She returned to the role again in the 25th Anniversary concert at The Royal Albert Hall.

Immediately after graduating, George Ure joined the cast of Wicked as the munchkin Boq, as well as appearing in the TV series Britannia High, going on to appear in the European tour of Hair. He can be heard on the album Acoustic Overtures (The music of Dougal Irvine) as well as making many concert appearances. George will be joined by some very special guests, including: Louise Dearman, Cassandra Compton, Ashley J. Russell and Jeremy Legat. It is sure to be a wicked night out!

Lucy Williamson has had a truly diverse career, appearing in Stepping Out, Company, Fame, Les Misérables, A Slice of Saturday Night, Rent, Marguerite, We Will Rock You and Mamma Mia! (to name but a few!). She has all but earned the nickname Judy after playing Ms Garland in the national tour of Judy and Liza as well as being Tracie Bennett’s ‘standby Judy’ in the biographical show about the star – End of The Rainbow. Lucy returns to the Landor after appearing in the theatre’s critically acclaimed I Love You Because (Winner Whatsonstage.com Awards for Best Off West End Production 2008).

The six new artists join the already announced line-up of Natasha Barnes, Tim Driesen, Kim Ismay, Rosalind James, Jeremy Legat and Stevie Webb.
