Kerry Ellis Leads BBC Proms in the Park, 9/11

UK's The Stage reports that WICKED's Kerry Ellis, currently starring in the West End's OLIVER!, joins Queen guitarist Brian May, soprano Kiri Te Kanawa, and tenor José Carreras for the final BBC Proms in the Park concert of the season, to be held September 11 in Hyde Park. The concert will be broadcast on Radio 2. The concert will end with a live video exchange with 'Last Night of the Proms' at the Royal Albert Hall.

Kerry Ellis left London's WICKED on June 7, 2008 before beginning performances at Broadway's Gershwin Theatre on June 17, 2008. Following her Broadway engagement, Ellis returned to the London production. Her other credits include 'Fantine' in LES MISERABLES in the West End and 'Ellen' in the UK national tour of MISS SAIGON. Kerry also created the role of 'Meat' in the originAl West End cast of the Queen/Ben Elton musical WE WILL ROCK YOU at the Dominion Theatre and took part in the Queen's Golden Jubilee Concert at Buckingham Palace. In 2001, Kerry understudied the role of 'Eliza Doolittle' in Trevor Nunn's production of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY at the National Theatre and Drury Lane, playing the role opposite Jonathan Pryce on many occasions. Other credits include the national tour of 'Magic of the Musicals' and 'Mary' in Stephen Sondheim's MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. Recent workshops include WAY BEYOND BLUE, written by Imogen Stubbs and directed by Trevor Nunn, and the title role in HELEN OF TROY, directed by Gary Griffin. Ellis currently stars in the Drury Lane revival of OLIVER! as 'Nancy.'
