Direct from London, Harold Sanditen makes his Chicago debut at Davenport's for one night only, prior to returning to New York.

Following the success of Harold Sanditen's cabaret show Thoughts ‘Round Midnight last autumn in both London and New York, he's reprising it in London and taking it to Chicago and New York, before returning to perform in the UK.

Thoughts ‘Round Midnight, features songs exploring those innermost feelings that we are all familiar with and which often take place late at night - loneliness, gratitude, jealousy, joy, love, fantasies, lost opportunities and even revenge. Harold's soulful and witty interpretation of lyrics portrays the humour, sadness and tenderness of these emotions, through the words and music of classic songs by Lennon and McCartney, Billie Holiday, Thelonious Monk, Jerome Kern, Bob Dylan, Jay Leonhart, Dorothy Fields, Stephen Sondheim and Antonio Carlos Jobim to name a few.

He will be taking Thoughts ‘Round Midnight to Davenport's on February 7th where he will be making his Chicago debut, and back to Don't Tell Mama in New York on February 11th before returning to the UK for further performances. Joining Harold in Chicago will be UK musical director, Nathan Martin, and local bass player, Scott Mason.

For 20 years, Harold was a successful UK based theatre producer with productions that spanned the smallest scale fringe productions to large scale commercial ones. He produced mainly in London, but also throughout the UK, as well as in Baltimore and New York City. Working with Oscar winners to complete unknowns, he was responsible for the UK debut of many North American performers and writers.

However, three years ago he decided to leave producing and concentrate on his real love - singing and cabaret. Harold's vocal style covers a wide genre from jazz and Latin to pop, ballads and show tunes. In September 2008 he performed his first solo cabaret show - The Secret of Life at The Duplex in New York. The show was a great success and he brought it home to Pizza on the Park in London two months later. In October 2009, he returned to Pizza on the Park with his second sell out solo cabaret show Love Exposed and took this to the world famous New York cabaret bar Don't Tell Mama in November. The show returned to Pizza on the Park in March 2010.
Harold recently attended the International Cabaret Conference at Yale University, studying with Julie Wilson, Sally Mayes, Tovah Feldshuh, Sharon McKnight, Jason Graae, Alex Rybek, and Faith Prince, amongst many others. He was interviewed by Jeff Lunden for an NPR program covering the conference: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=129031086

Previously, Harold attended The Art of Cabaret in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 2009, studying with Andrea Marcovicci, Karen Mason, Barry Kleinbort, Christopher Denny, Shelly Markham and David Gaines; and in 2007 Harold studied cabaret performance with Helen Baldassare in an intensive week-long workshop in Tuscany.

Harold has just released his first CD, Taking Flight, which is a collection of songs from his three cabaret shows.
Harold, who was born in Oklahoma, has lived in London since 1987. He is the Vice Chairman of the Board of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), one of the UK's top drama schools, and is on the Board of The Playground, the only UK performing arts Creation Space. Harold is the London reviewer for Cabaret Scenes magazine, and has reviewed shows in London, New York and Paris.
