Bristol Revunions could be considered the comedy equivalent of Skins. They're young, cute and edgy... and they're from Bristol. The Fringe is filled with terrible sketch shows, so I was especially apprehensive about a student sketch show. Luckily, my nerves were not warranted, as Comedy Biscuit turned out to be one of the best sketch shows I've seen.

The youth of the performers was reflected in the audience, and Comedy Biscuit certainly will incite more amusement from that age group, especially when the cultural references include Deal or No Deal and N-Dubz. The sketches are at times quite silly (the boy with chips for knees and a re-enactment of Jurassic Park are just two of many examples I could list here) but fortunately they never lose sight of the line between funny and stupid.

This style is often done terribly, but the members of Bristol Revunions have the natural comedic sense to make it work, and for that reason I can see them doing rather well in the future if they do decide to pursue this as a career. It's great to see a new breed of comedy talent and, considering I've not heard great things about their Cambridge equivalents in recent years, it sounds like the Bristolians may be about to inherit their student comedy crown.

Comedy Biscuit by Bristol Revunions is at Pleasance Below at 11pm each night until 30th August.
