One of the best-known disco divas of the late Eighties and early Nineties, Kym Mazelle is joining ‘Over The Rainbow' finalist Steph Fearon, to star in the first major production of the musical SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE since its West?End run at the?Prince of Wales Theatre in 1996.

A musical revue showcasing 39 pop standards, including rock and roll, rhythm and blues songs written by songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE will open at the Landor?Theatre, Clapham, on Tuesday 13th July and run for a five-week season until Sunday 15th August.

Kym Mazelle grew up in Gary, Indiana, just streets away from one of pop music's ultimate dynasties: Michael Jackson and his Brothers and Sisters. During her studies at Mundelein University, Kym set out to become a diva in the true sense of the word by studying opera. But disillusioned by the genre, Kym quickly realized that she would have to take a different path to divadom. The world of opera's potential loss was dance music's great gain, with Kym emerging as one of the earliest pioneers of Chicago House Music. Kym is now recognized as the "Queen of House Music". Her impressive discography spans many hit singles including "Useless (I Don't Want You Now)" with fellow pioneer Marshall Jefferson, "Wait" (duet with Dr Robert of the Blow Monkeys), "Searching? For the Golden Eye" with Motiv8 and "Missing You" (an international worldwide hit with Jazzie B & Soul II Soul), a group that she toured the world with.

"X Factor" svengali Simon Cowell produced her massive hit "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" that featured her dueting with fellow diva Jocelyn Brown, and her cover of "Young Hearts Run Free" was featured on the six-times platinum film soundtrack, "Baz Luhrman's Romeo & Juliet", which was nominated for a US Grammy. She starred in both the West End and UK tour of the Ray Charles musical celebration, "I Can't Stop Loving You", and took part in ITV's "Celebrity Fit Club", losing 2 stone during the course of the programme.

Steph Fearon recently reached the semi finals wowing audiences every Saturday night on BBC 1's ‘Over The Rainbow', competing for the West End role of Dorothy in Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of ‘The Wizard Of Oz'. Her professional credits include: ‘The Little Shop of Horrors' (National tour) ‘Whistle Down the Wind' (Aldwych), ‘The Wind in the Willows' (Open Air Theatre), "As If' (C4) and My Parents are Aliens (ITV). The cast also includes Marc Akinfolarin, Miguel Angel, Edward Baruwa, Simon Hardwick, Ngo Ngofa, Philippa Stefani.

Please note: because of prior commitments, Kym Mazelle will only appear from Tuesday July 13 - Sunday July 25.
