The incomparable flamenco and jazz superstar, CONCHA BUIKA, will perform her biggest UK concert to date on December 13th when she brings her fiery show to the Eventim Apollo in London. Presented by Piu Entertainment, the hugely popular Mallorcan-born singer/songwriter/poet will perform an evening of flamenco, Spanish copla, jazz and soul and tracks from her current CD, 'Vivir Sin Miedo' ('To Live Without Fear').

"From the blissful Caribbean rhythms and harmonies of the opening title track; through the vibrant Latin chanting and infectious beats of 'Si Volvere' and 'Yo Ire'; to the irresistible slow shuffle of 'Waves' and passionate stripped-down conclusion 'Sister', Ms Buika has never sounded better..." (Music magazine)

The fearless Buika follows in the tradition of performers such as Nina Simone who have defied categorisation to forge their own musical path to great critical and public acclaim. Born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, the daughter of African parents, Buika is a one-woman force of artistic nature; 'Vivir Sin Miedo' features 10 tracks - nine of which were written by Buika herself - that reflect Buika's worldwide travels of the last decade. Fusing elements of reggae, ragga, flamenco, R&B, Afrobeat and gospel, the CD features appearances by Meshell Ndegeocello, Jason Mraz, and Spanish underground flamenco legend, Potito. A Latin Grammy Award winner, Buika, who's now based in Miami, Florida, has already built up a following in the UK via her performances at Womad and the Barbican. She has performed in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, Argentina and Mexico.

"I'm very excited about going back to London," says Buika, "and I have always felt that UK audiences really get my music. I've got a different show for London this time and I hope everyone will like it: Vivir Sin Miedo (see left) was made with a bigger band and the sound is more rocky, ragga and soul. But it all has my Spanish touch!

"London is a very cosmopolitan city where I feel very comfortable; I love the freedom you feel in the street and the culture of musicals, theatre, and music. It's a pity I'm always on tour which means I'm only in the city for a short time otherwise I would like to have enough time to attend a musical or the opera. In fact I'm hoping to get involved in an opera production next year! After the Apollo show I'll be heading back to Miami and I'll be spending Christmas there with friends and family."

Piu Entertainment was founded in 2010 in Istanbul, Turkey, and has since developed a substantial reputation for presenting live music and art events at high profile venues around the world. With a newly opened base in London, Piu are planning a programme of UK concerts by world class artists for 2016 and 2017: BUIKA at the Apollo will be their first. From classical to world, pop to jazz, flamenco to dance, Piu Entertainment will present some of the world's biggest names at venues in London, Birmingham, and Manchester - to begin with - over the next twelve months.
