Bear Trap Theatre in association with Southwark Playhouse presents ENDURING SONG, written and directed by Jesse Briton, designed by Buddug James Jones, and with musical direction by Max Macintosh. ENDURING SONG will run today 11 June - Saturday 5 July 2014. Curtain times are Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm and Saturday matinees at 3pm.

France. 1096. Matthew, a young French Knight, sets out on the First Crusade. Behind him he leaves a broken family, crumbling ancestral farm and teenage sister who must save it all from ruin. From the fields of France to the churches of Antioch and the siege of Jerusalem, Enduring Song is an historical epic about love, hope and family.

Staged in the round with a cast of twenty and traditional Corsican polyphonic songs, Bear Trap Theatre Company return to Southwark Playhouse following their multi award-winning debut production of Bound (The Vault, 2011).

Casting and further creative details are to be announced at a later date.

Bear Trap Theatre's debut play Bound premiered to critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010, winning a host of awards including a Fringe First. In 2011 it transferred to the Adelaide Fringe where it won further accolades. Bound then completed two UK national tours before coming to Southwark Playhouse in 2011 where it won Best Choreographer at the Off West End Theatre Awards and a nomination for Most Promising Playwright (Jesse Briton) at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards.

Writer and Director Jesse Briton trained on East 15 Acting School's Contemporary Theatre course under Uri Roodner. Founder and Artistic Director of Bear Trap Theatre Company, his first play Bound premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe where it won a Fringe First. Bound toured the UK, Ireland and Australia and was long-listed for an Evening Standard award following its London run at Southwark Playhouse in 2011. Commissioned work includes Movere for Curious Detective, The Muddy Choir for Theatre Centre and Growth for Southwark Playhouse's PLAYground Festival. Work as an actor includes Mr Benn (UK tour), Potted Potter (Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa tour) and The Humans (Rotterdam and New York). He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Essex and leads East 15's Debut festival of new writing.

Designer Buddug James Jones trained as a performance designer at Wimbledon College of Art. During her studies she worked with Bear Trap Theatre Company on Bound. Buddug has since worked as a designer for National Theatre Wales, Wales Millennium Centre's Blysh Festival and independent Welsh companies August013 and Crashmat Collective as a designer. She works closely with National Theatre Wales as a designer, community engager and is a member of National Theatre Wales TEAM panel.

Tickets for ENDURING SONG are £10 fo previews and £18 with £16 concessions for the regular run. Concessions are available for students, under 16's, unwaged, registered disabled, Equity, and over 65's. Registered disabled patrons can bring one companion free of charge.
