Tony and Emmy winner Kristin Chenoweth will return to her hometown of Broken Arrow to host a second master class concert and the inaugural Broadway Boot Camp, both of which will incorporate hundreds of local and regional students through an open audition call.

"Ms. Chenoweth has a heart for arts in education, as cemented last year with the formation of the Kristin Chenoweth Arts & Education Fund," said Mark Frie, Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center executive director. "For this master class and for the camp, she is bringing together her love for her two alma maters-Broken Arrow Public Schools and Oklahoma City University-and creating a unique opportunity for many high school and college students to further their creative arts aspirations."

The audition process for both the master class and boot camp will take place Feb. 20-21, with callbacks on Feb. 22.

Students in grades 9-12 must audition to be considered for the Broadway Boot Camp taking place June 22-26, 2015, at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center. The camp will teach audition techniques, stage movement and will include interviews with Broadway industry professionals. Dr. David Herendeen, director of musical theatre program at Oklahoma City University, leads the camp along with a small staff.

Two lucky students from the boot camp will be chosen to attend the Oklahoma City University High School Musical Theatre Camp in July for three weeks with all tuition waived.

"To me, true talent like we experience with Kristin is something that is not taught in school," said Herendeen. "It has to do with a giving heart. So I can't help but be excited about our new partnership in Broken Arrow. I'm going to find heart in the heartland for sure."

Students in grades 11, 12 and the collegiate level may audition for the Kristin Chenoweth Master Class event in August. Much like last year's master class, students will be able to perform for Chenoweth and receive one-on-one direction from her in front of a live audience.

"I am so excited to partner with the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center to help raise awareness for the arts in the city I call home," said Chenoweth. "Giving back to the community is a privilege and I feel most fortunate to be able to support educational and artistic opportunities in Broken Arrow."

Applications for the camp and master class are available for download HERE and must be turned in by Feb. 16. For more information, call 918-259-5723 or email kvento@baschools.org.
