Unity Charity is proud to celebrate their tenth anniversary in 2017, having spent the past decade using hip-hop to improve young people's lives and mental well being, creating healthier communities across Canada.

Founded on April 22, 2007 by Michael Prosserman aka "Bboy Piecez", one of Toronto's most preeminent B-boys, Unity has reached over 200,000 youth across Canada with after school and community programs in break dancing, graffiti art, spoken word poetry, beat boxing and more. Through hip-hop arts based programming, Unity engages and inspires youth between the ages of 12 - 24 from underserved communities from Vancouver to Halifax.

"After ten years it is so humbling to look back on everything our team has accomplished. There are so many incredible stories of impact that I get overwhelmed with positive emotion and pride just thinking about it" said Michael Prosserman, Founder and Executive Director of Unity Charity. "Together we have elevated hip-hop culture and this movement to impact the mental health and well being of so many young people."

Unity Charity believes hip-hop is a universal community that youth find relatable and accessible, which is why Unity programs are appealing and comfortable for youth who feel disconnected and overwhelmed by stress. Unity allows youth to achieve their full potential, creating healthy and vibrant communities.

After meeting youth from Unity Programs and participating in workshops in Toronto and Halifax in 2014, their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada and ShaRon Johnston announced they would serve as patrons of Unity Charity.

Unity Charity offers school programs, drop-ins, workshops, seminars, and an annual Festival with all elements of hip-hop that focus on building skills through peer-to-peer mentorship and artistic performance. Unity works with community partners, schools, artist educators, volunteers and all levels of government to provide access to a cohesive community and a unique cultural experience; a place for self-growth, physical activity and artistic expression.
