Théâtre français de Toronto has the perfect fall getaway in store for its public with Le chant de Georges Boivin (Georges Boivin's Swan Song) by Martin Bellemare. Directed by Mario Borges and starring the legendary Pierre Collin, this theatrical "road movie" love song will be presented at the Berkeley Street Theatre from November 26 to 30.

Feeling lost and disoriented after suffering the loss of his wife, 77 year old Georges Boivin decides to retrace the steps of his first love. A woman he hasn't seen in fifty years. In the company of three of his best friends, Georges leaves for Vancouver where he hopes to find his estranged flame, and by the same token, catch a breath of fresh air. Le chant de Georges Boivin (Georges Boivin's Swan Song) is a theatrical road-movie that invites the public to sing along to the tune of its hero's love song.

In his writing, author Martin Bellemare explores with subtlety the theme of vulnerability and casts a new light on men of a certain age as they confront aging and death. In 2009, Bellemare won the Gratien-Gélinas Award for his text Le chant de Georges Boivin, and three years later, the play was mounted by Kléos Productions in Montreal where it was greeted with triumph. TfT is pleased to introduce on its stage this gentle and moving character and to invite its audience to take part in his journey.
