Scarborough Music Theatre is adding additional performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. With just under two months until the show opens, some performances are already nearly sold out. To accomodate the demand for tickets, two additional performances will go on sale on Monday, September 12. The additional shows will be Wednesday, November 9 at 8:00 and Saturday, November 12 at 2:00.

Joseph, lyrics by Tim Rice (The Lion King, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar) and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber (Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar), tells the biblical story of the boy whose dreams inspire his brothers to sell him into slavery in Egypt where those same dreams ultimately save the Egyptians, and his brothers, from seven years of famine. First presented as a 15 minute cantata in 1968, the show was expanded and eventually opened on Broadway in 1982. Since that time there have been over 20,000 school and amateur productions around the world. Perhaps best known to Toronto audiences is the touring production starring Donny Osmond as Joseph.

Scarborough Music Theatre had an extremely successful 2010/11 season with two of their three productions completely sold out and this season appears to be continuing that trend. "It is tremendously exciting to see such an enthusiastic audience response to our upcoming 50th anniversary season!" says Jason Silzer, president of Scarborough Music Theatre.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat runs from November 3-19, 2011 at Scarborough Village Theatre (3600 Kingston Road). Tickets are on sale through the Theatre Scarborough box office and can be ordered by phone (416-267-9292) or online at www.theatrescarborough.com. Regular tickets are $25 with student and senior discounts available for Thursday evening and all matinee performances. Tickets for groups of 10 or more are available for $20 each. Tickets are also on sale for the rest of the 2011/12 season, Nunsenseand My Fair Lady.
