Hart House Theatre is proud to present Shakespeare's brutal and dramatic history, Richard III running from September 15 to October 2, 2010.

Hart House Theatre has a reputation of being a downtown destination for strong classical theatre showcasing emerging artists, and this fall is no different. The 2010/2011 Season opens with Shakespeare's delightfully bloody and brutal history of Richard III. Richard III follows the corrupt path of a twisted man with equally twisted ambitions. Richard manipulates, marries and murders his way to the top with unmatched charm and zeal. Suave, calculating and brutal, this September Hart House Theatre invites you to meet one of Shakespeare's greatest villains.

Under the direction of Hart House Theatre's new Artistic Director, Jeremy Hutton (Director of last season's A Midsummer Night's Dream) expect new and great things from Shakespeare's tragic history. This show promises to deliver audiences a twisted distortion of an Elizabethan setting as seen through the eyes of Richard's villainous and nightmarish mind.

Hutton has cast Andre Sills (the Stratford Festival, The Canadian Stage Company, St. Louis Black Repertory Company) in the title role. The two first worked together when Sills played the title role in Othello for Hart House Theatre's 2004/2005 Season. On working with Mr. Sills, Mr. Hutton says: "I am thrilled to have Andre back on the Hart House Theatre stage as Richard. In his return he brings with him a depth of professional experience, a magnetic personality and a commanding stage presence."

Part epic history, part horror and part in-depth study of one man's evil, Jeremy Hutton's masterful, contorted, dream-like production is sure to thrill.
