With performances only beginning last week, David Mirvish and The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers are delighted to announce that popular demand for the Canadian premiere production of MATILDA THE MUSICAL is once again forcing them to extend its run, this time through November 27, 2016.

Winner of over 50 international awards including four Tony Awards, a Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theatre for each of the four girls sharing the title role, and a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards, including Best Musical, MATILDA THE MUSICAL is based on the beloved novel by best-selling author Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr. Fox). It is the story of an extraordinary girl who dreams of a better life. Armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, Matilda dares to take a stand and change her destiny.

MATILDA THE MUSICAL is directed by Tony Award winner Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage), who helms this production with a book by Tony Award-winning playwright Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Australian comedian, musician and composer Tim Minchin.

The production has sets and costumes by Tony Award winner Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Tony Award winner Hugh Vanstone, and sound by Simon Baker.

MATILDA THE MUSICAL premiered at the Royal Shakespeare Company's The Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in November 2010, before transferring to London's West End in October 2011 where it is now in its fifth year. The New York production, produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers, opened in March 2013 at Broadway's Shubert Theatre. In 2015 the London and Broadway productions were joined by the North American and Australian tours. The production has now been seen by more than five million people worldwide.

Hannah Levinson, Jaime MacLean and Jenna Weir share the role of 'Matilda.' Toronto-native Hannah, who is 9 years old, has already had some stage experience, recently playing 'Lee Bouvier' in the Acting Up Stage Company production of the Tony Award-winning musical Grey Gardens in Toronto. Jaime, 10, is from Vancouver and has already had parts on television and has played 'Young Cosette' in theArts Club Theatre production of Les Miserables. Jenna, 10, also from Toronto, is making her professional stage debut, but she has already had professional work on television.

Paula Brancati, stars as 'Miss Honey,' is a two-time Gemini Award nominee for Degrassi: The Next Generation and Dark Oracle. On stage she played the title role in Ross Petty's production of Cinderella at the Elgin Theatre.

Dan Chameroy stars as 'Miss Trunchbull.' He won the Dora Award for Best Actor for his performance as 'Gaston' in the Canadian premiere of Disney's Beauty and the Beast at the Princess of Wales Theatre. He has also starred in Les Miserables, The Drowsy Chaperone, among many other musicals. He has been a member of both the Stratford and Shaw festivals and has starred in almost a dozen Ross Petty musical productions.

Keisha T. Fraser, stars as 'Mrs. Phelps,' has performed across Canada (including at the Stratford Festival), on Broadway (in Mamma Mia!) and London's West End (The Book of Mormon and The Color Purple). A graduate of Toronto's Randolph School of the Arts, we welcome her back home for this production.

Brandon McGibbon stars as 'Mr. Wormwood.' He recently shared the Dora Award for Best Ensemble for the Canadian production of Once at the Ed Mirvish Theatre, in which he stuttered as 'Svec.' Also at the Ed Mirvish, he starred as 'Carmen Ghia' in the Canadian premiere of The Producers. He has performed on major stages across and been a member of the Soulpepper Theatre Company. He is a graduate of Ryerson Theatre School at Ryerson University.

Darcy Stewart stars as 'Mrs. Wormwood.' A recent graduate of Toronto's Randolph School of the Arts, she has starred in The Heart of Robin Hood at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.

The adult ensemble of MATILDA THE MUSICAL features Darren Burkett, Jacqueline Burtney, Eric Craig, Stephen Diaz, Heidi Friese, Camden Gonzales, Michael D. Jablonski, Anthony MacPherson, Gray Monczka, Justin Packard, Laurin Padolina, Kim Sava, Brandon Stonestreet, Natalie Wisdom and Darius Wright.

The children ensemble of MATILDA THE MUSICAL features Aiden Bushey, Will Coombs, Drew Davis, Aiden Glenn, Kendyl Ito, Abigail Nicholson, Riley O'Donnell, Tanner Quirk, Molly Richardson and Isabella Stuebing.
