Harold Green Jewish Theatre and Angelwalk Theatre are excited to be working together in producing the Canadian Premiere of Stars of David. Fresh off its Off-Broadway run, this is the first major production of this exciting new musical, written by an all-star line-up of Broadway's best.

Stars of David will run from today, May 10 until June 1, 2014 in the Studio Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, with opening night on Wednesday May 14th at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at www.hgjewishtheatre.com or through the Toronto Centre for the Arts box office at 1-855-985-2787.

A musical adaptation of Abigail Pogrebin's best-selling book, Stars of David: Prominent Jews Talk About Being Jewish, this new musical originally produced by Daryl Roth (Kinky Boots) and conceived by Aaron Harnick, is a snapshot of Jewish identity told through interviews with some of North America's most recognizable public figures, including Gloria Steinem, Gwyneth Paltrow, Dustin Hoffman, Leonard Nimoy, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Joan Rivers, Aaron Sorkin, Tony Kushner, and Fran Drescher.

You don't have to be Jewish to relate to this funny and captivating musical featuring songs by some of Broadway's finest composers and lyricists, artists behind shows such as Shrek, Next to Normal, Fiddler on the Roof, A Chorus Line, The Way We Were, Closer Than Ever, Miss Saigon, Caroline or Change, and Spring Awakening.

As previously announced, Stars of David will be directed by Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company's Co-Artistic Director Avery Saltzman (Funny Girl In Concert, To Life) with musical direction by Mark Camilleri (Toxic Avenger, Queen for a Day), the creative team behind Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company's electrifying performance of Funny Girl last fall.

The cast will feature Darrin Baker (Falsettos; Broadway: Tarzan, Wonderful Town, Sunset Blvd.; Off-Broadway: I Love You You're Perfect Now Change), Gabi Epstein (Liza & Barbra, Funny Girl In Concert, I Love You Because, Dani Girl, To Life, Edges), Lisa Horner (Mirvish Productions: Les Miserables, Wizard of Oz, My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding), and Will Lamond (Off-Broadway On Stage; Shaw Festival: Guys & Dolls, Lady Windermere's Fan).

This production will include set and costumes designed by Scott Penner (Stratford Festival:Cymbeline; Ordinary Days, I Love You Because) along with lighting design by Siobhan Sleath (Elegies, Ordinary Days, I Love You Because).

Founded in 2006, the Harold Green Jewish Theatre Company, under the artistic direction of David Eisner and Avery Saltzman, is Toronto's only professional theatre company established to tell the Jewish story through theatre.
