The Fall Festival of Shakespeare is back and with it come the four Common Classes where hundreds of teenagers gather in one place to work and play together in Stage Combat, Dance and Movement, Technical Theatre and Performance Preparation. Ten different schools will be represented. The Bard is more modern and alive than ever in visionary Robert Wilson's Shakespeare's Sonnets, a contemporary take on 25 specially chosen sonnets from Shakespeare's canon. Set to a sweeping score composed by the renowned Rufus Wainwright, a genre-bending mix of medieval German Minnesang, classical, pop, and cabaret rock is performed by Bertolt Brecht's historic Berliner Ensemble. The sonnets were pared down and selected by Berliner dramaturge Jutta Ferbers who deftly adapted these captivating poems that were not originally intended for the theater. The production was first staged in Berlin in 2009 for the fourth centennial of the publishing of the sonnets. The production's world premiere was in April 2009 in Berlin and still runs in the Berliner Ensemble's repertory.

The Hilberry Theatre's 52nd season continues with William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, returning to the Hilberry stage for the first time since 2006. The production plays from October 24 to December 13, 2014, with additional student matinees scheduled throughout early 2015.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) opens its 2014-15 Mainstage Series with William Shakespeare's dark and twisted tragedy Macbeth. Directed by Bill Buckhurst and starring Joseph Marcell in the title role, KING LEAR begins performances at NYU Skirball (566 LaGuardia Place at Washington Square, New York, NY, 10012) tonight, September 30, 2014, with opening night set for Wednesday, October 1, 2014, and running through Sunday, October 12, 2014.

Annenberg Center Live kicks off its fall season with the U.S. tour of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre Company's King Lear. Direct from London, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre presents a faithful restaging of King Lear that's filled with tempestuous poetry, touches of humor and moments of heart-rending simplicity. This production of what is considered Shakespeare's greatest tragedy features stage and screen actor Joseph Marcell, known for his role as Geoffrey in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The show runs today, September 24-27 at the Annenberg Center at 3680 Walnut Street.
