CAP21 Theatre Company and RKO Stage have partnered to develop 5 new musicals inspired by RKO's classic film library over the next two years. CAP21 has designed a year-long developmental process during which writing teams are able to complete a strong first draft of a new musical. During each cycle, writers will participate in CAP21's signature New Works Development Program, a comprehensive process that includes: Process Meetings, Writers Residencies, Roundtable Readings, Read-Thru/Sing-Thru Table Readings and Concert Readings. With this new partnership CAP21 is receiving funding to establish the residency. (more...)

Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han have announced plans for The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's 45th anniversary season. The 2014-2015 Season offers an extraordinarily vibrant palette of diverse and innovative programming performed by a vast and impressive roster comprised of 109 of the world's finest chamber music artists. A performance of Verdi's Requiem that is a tripartite collaboration highlights the 2014-15 season of Kent Tritle, called 'New York's reigning choral conductor' by The New York Times. In an event emblematic of Kent's multiple roles in the city's choral life, he will conduct a performance of the massive work by the Oratorio Society of New York, of which he is Music Director, and the Symphony and Symphonic Chorus of the Manhattan School of Music, where he is Director of Choral Activities, in the grand space of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, where he is Director of Cathedral Music and Organist -- with a new choral configuration that features the more-than-250 singers on risers in the cathedral's Great Choir space. LIPPY was widely acknowledged as the most extraordinary piece of theatre to emerge from Ireland in 2013. Jaap van Zweden - music director of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Hong Kong Philharmonic as well as former concertmaster of Amsterdam's Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra - will return to the New York Philharmonic for the first time since his debut in April 2012 to conduct two weeks of concerts.
