In this eagerly anticipated new production, athletic bodies, vibrant costumes, explosive Taiko drumming and innovative choreography all combine to create an awe-inspiring theater experience that must be seen to be believed. (Time Out Chicago) Typically a male-dominated genre, TAO includes both male and female performers who undergo years of training at a compound in the mountains of Japan until they reach the highest level of virtuosity. The drummers draw on their diversity of talents—rock musicians, gymnasts, composers—to add their own flair to the performance, resulting in a fresh, energetic interpretation of the ancient art of Japanese drumming. Since their sensational world debut at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2004, they have toured the world, performing in 17 countries, and 400 cities for more than four million adoring fans.
