Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza 20th anniversary free concert will feature David Benoit, Brooke White, Wendy Liebman and the new state-of-the-art sound system, tonight, September 12, 2014 at 7:00 pm. Doors will open at 6:30 for open seating.

The Civic Arts Plaza sound system has only had one upgrade since its opening 20 years ago. To ensure its place as a world class venue and to avoid the cost of renting sound systems on a show by show basis, the decision was made to choose and install a state of the art system which will benefit both artists and audiences. "Over the past 20 years there have been major improvements in audio technology. As a venue that strives to provide superior venue experience for our patrons at every performance, installation of the L-Acoustics sound system will elevate the quality of amplified performances, lectures and other events to a new level," says Cultural Affairs Director Barry McComb. The Fred Kavli Theatre is the first performing arts theatre on the west coast to permanently install the L-Acoustic K-2 Line Array System.

L-Acoustics is a French manufacturer that has its American headquarters in Oxnard. The company providing the equipment and helping with installation and training is Rat Sound Systems Inc. of Camarillo. Michael Tachco, Technical Director of the Fred Kavli Theatre says "The coverage of the new system will be very even in all parts of the hall. Listening to an amplified performance from a seat at the back of the main floor or the side of the balcony will be as good as anywhere in the house."

To celebrate the 20th anniversary as well as to let the community experience the new sound system, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza will present a free concert with jazz pianist David Benoit, American Idol's Brooke White and comedian Wendy Liebman. This concert is free; doors will open at 6:30 with open seating.
