King Center Announces 20th Anniversary Season, 10/21/14-05/07/15

The Maxwell C. King Center for Performing Arts Theatre for Youth and Outreach Program is pleased to announce its 20th anniversary of excellent performing arts and educational theatre opportunities for our children on the Space Coast.

"The success of the program is attributed to the wonderful support we receive from area schools, the business community, the dedicated King Center volunteers and our Board of Directors," said Karen Wilson, director for Theatre for Youth & Outreach Program. "The landscape of presenting these valuable programs to students has changed over the years, but our commitment to fostering a positive experience for youth remains a priority through the programs offered each year."

Individual Tickets On Sale Friday, September 5th at Noon. (Please note: Due to the nature of the entertainment industry, all artists,programs and dates are subject to change).

SCHOOL HOUSE ROCK

Appropriate for: Grades 1 - 5

The Emmy Award - winning 1970s pop culture phenomenon comes to the stage in this high energy show. Through a series of classic songs such as "Unpack Your Adjectives," "Just a Bill," and "Conjunction Junction," this multimedia treat shows a whole new generation of young people that learning can be as fun as you choose to make it.

Appropriate for: Pre-K - Grades 2

Creator of Playhouse Disney's Johnny and the Sprites and Tony-Award nominee (Avenue Q), John Tartaglia has created this magical undersea adventure for kids of all ages. Best friends Dorsel, Tank and Bubbles invite the audience to sing, dance and make new friends as they discover a treasure map and its adventures in this live black-light puppet show.

A perfect first ballet experience! Performed by a cast of internationally recognized dancers, a favorite for children of all ages, the audience will uncover the true meaning of friendship in this beautifully crafted ballet featuring vibrant colorful costumes, Lady Bug and her animal friends.

"THE TAILOR OF GLOUCHESTER"

A light-hearted holiday musical rendition based on the popular children's book series, the Tailor of Gloucester finally gains an opportunity to use his talents and sew a cherry colored coat for the mayor just in time for his Christmas wedding. The task is met with many twists and turns sparked by the mischievous cat Simpkins and his friend the mice.

SWAZZLE'S DREAM CARVER

Appropriate for: K - Grades 6

Taught by his father to carve small wooden toys in a traditional way, Mateo instead dreams of bright, colorful animals that dance and sing. This bilingual musical transports the audience to a vibrant Mexican village and the life of Mateo and his family.

MATHEMAGIC WITH BRADLEY FIELDS

From the region of Hebei, China the critically acclaimed Golden Dragon Acrobats bring their amazing skills to the main stage. The thrill escalates as these human obstacles with their extraordinary abilities and breathtaking maneuvers, keeps the audience in suspense at the edge of their seats as the acrobats perfect every skill before the viewing audience. The show features vibrant costumes and unimaginable precision.

The high flying effortless moves by these energetic performers, demonstrate the distinctive and varied styles of dance as seen through this multi-component form of hip-hop. Experience the evolution of dance from 17th century to present day. A great connection to physical education!
