This November Mustard Seed Productions is thrilled to present their inaugural production, the world premiere of Murray Lambert's hilarious dark comedy, My Father's Left Testicle as part of the 2016 Depot theatre season.

My Father's Left Testicle is a new Australian comedy set against the grimy backdrop of a detention centre, and follows a ragtag group of refugees as they are processed through 'Camp Assimilation'. Daring to go to the darker side of comedy, this play delves into the idea that nationality is a biological roulette and asks not which country, but which testicle we all came from. Stylistically inspired by the effervescent form of Commedia dell'Arte, the play mixes Murray's sharp script with slapstick, acrobatics and clowning to explore what it means to be Australian, a refugee and a human.

Murray Lambert is an Australian writer, director and performer who graduated with a Bachelor of Dramatic Arts from Excelsior College (formerly Wesley Institute) in 2013. He is currently the Vice President of Matriark Theatre Co and a Co-Artistic Director of Mustard Seed Productions. With his new play My Father's Left Testicle Lambert hopes to illicit conversation around the asylum seeker crisis by presenting the refugee story in a theatrically engaging and challenging style that combines the hopelessness and the ridiculousness of the asylum seeker situation that so deeply conflicts this country in this day and age.

Mustard Seed Productions is a collective of artists who share an unquenchable passion to create new work - a brand new, Sydney-based Production Company which offers a new perspective within the local entertainment industry. With a unique voice, specialist training and a commitment to drawing inspiration from multiple forms of theatre, Mustard Seed shows aim to challenge and question contemporary Australian cultural themes and issues through thought-provoking and highly skilled artistry. Mustard Seed Productions' passion extends beyond their own work and into the future of theatre in this country, through their school holiday workshops for kids, Mustard Seed Productions hope to equip the next generation of artists with all they need to have fun, discover self-confidence and eloquently express their creative energy.

My Father's Left Testicle is a daring and dangerous work that is unafraid to tap into one of the most important social issues of today. The show is one that will leave audiences changed by presenting an eye-opening story that is at once confronting and uncomfortable, as well as hilarious and inspirational.
