Shaun Parker & Company will present Blue Love, for one night only at the Seymour Centre on August 23rd. From award-winning Australian choreographer, Shaun Parker, Blue Love is infused with intense physical theatre, film and dance and is a poetic and satirical take on the clichés of pop culture, romance, coupledom and suburbia.

From a fantastic place where TV soap meets art-house film, Glenn and Rhonda Flune take the audience in search of the perfect relationship, parodying the lip-service given to love and its incarnations. Blue Love is inspired by famous works of art, theatre, music and film; all of which deal with the concept of love.

Blue Love features a pulsing score of popular songs about love and heartbreak that will strike a chord with everyone, including: Stop In The Name of Love, I Will Survive, Don't Call Me Baby, I Want To Know What Love is, Do You Really Want to Hurt Me, You Sexy Thing, Linger, Love Is A Battlefield, and many more.

This quirky, character-based work is a multi-media, physical theatre comedy: accessible, challenging and enormously entertaining.

"I was inspired by how romantic love runs rampant through all art forms, both popular and high-art, and provides such juicy thematic fodder for artists and audiences alike," said Shaun Parker.

"It's a topic that everyone knows only too well. In romantic love the cliché becomes the poignant and vice versa. Our characters, Glenn and Rhonda Flune believe that they are the perfect couple, and in believing so become the tenuous, sometimes fabricated, sometimes real storytellers of Blue Love. They and their living room become the canvas for our story as they reference film, dance, text and song in playing out their relationship."

Blue Love will be performed at the Seymour Centre in a special one-off performance as Shaun Parker & Company's major fundraising event for the year. Funds raised from this event will allow Australia's most wide reaching and accessible not-for-profit dance company to continue to create new work and deliver their ground-breaking dance education program.
