On the 26th May, 2016, two things will happen...

Comedian Sam McCool launches the premiere of his new show "TURNING THOUGHTY".

On the same day, he turns 40, celebrating it at Australia's most prestigious venue, SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE.

This year's show marks McCool's long-awaited return to the world-famous venue, after a sell-out show in 2012, when he came to prominence on Channel 7's AUSTRALIA'S GOT TALENT.

Since then Sam has earned accolades and fans the world over, touring from India to Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, Bali, Europe, Mexico, Canada and the USA... or as he puts it "from Bollywood to Hollywood".

He has featured in the popular Los Angeles-based "Movie Night Podcast", been written about in the Times of India and interviewed on radio stations around the world. McCool also became the first Australian comic to perform in Mexico City, and Australia's northern-most comic performing live in the Torres Strait Islands.

Sam is frequently invited to entertain Australia's largest corporations such as Optus, Mirvac, Tabcorp, Microsoft, LJ Hooker, and host events such as the Australian Events Awards. He regularly headlines for major international cruise lines, meeting people of all backgrounds and walks of life. This international perspective compelled him to co-write an original stage-play "LIGHTEN UP" developed by Sydney Theatre Company and produced by Griffin Theatre Company. The play is due to debut in November 2016 at the Stables Theatre.

So what about this show "Turning Thoughty". What's the inspiration, theme and message? It's a show about Age-ism and getting older, but rather than suffering a mid-life crisis, Sam has coined the phrase "mid-life oasis" to encapsulate his thoughts on turning 40.

At 35 he quit his day job and took on the challenge of becoming an international globe-trotting comedian, but 5 years on... how does it feel to still be "living the dream"? And what next for a creative mind with half the world left to explore?

While many people are caught in jobs or careers they detest, Sam's show is all about the thoughts, decisions and choices we make to set us on the right path, to live out your dreams... and become a fuller version of yourself. It all starts with your thoughts, and as he suggests, it's really never too late.

ABOUT THE SHOW:

By age 40, most humans have had an average of 730 million thoughts.

Some are good, some are dubious, and some downright disastrous.

In Sam's case, his thoughts have led to miraculous experiences like sneaking up the Great Pyramid of Egypt at midnight; swimming with Humpback whales in Tonga; co-writing a play developed by the Sydney Theatre Company; performing on Australia's Got Talent, and quitting his day job to tour the globe making people laugh from Bollywood to Hollywood.

Other thoughts however have been more questionable, like performing to a US bikie gang in the California desert, playing a Greek economics expert for a financial services conference or convincing people he was Scottish at an anti-racism event for the Australian Human Rights Commission.

As yet, not one of Sam's 730 million thoughts have led him to invent time travel, cure cancer, or make $730million! However, one inspired thought led to this brand-new show to celebrate his mid-life oasis.

Sam has survived open-heart surgery, 2nd degree burns to his face, and the Bali bomb. He probably wasn't meant to be here this long, so come celebrate survival with Sam McCool, as he "Turns Thoughty!
