Casting has been announced for freeFall Theatre's upcoming production of the world premiere staging of Mikhel Raud's comedy AMERICAN MONKEY, which will open March 15. Performances will continue through March 30.

Directed by freeFall Artistic Director Eric Davis, the cast will star Patrick Ryan Sullivan (Broadway's BEAUTY & THE BEAST, FORTY-SECOND STREET), Chris Jackson (2013 Theatre Tampa Bay Award for Best Actor in a Play for A Simple Theatre's GOOD EGG), and Stefanie Clouse (American Stage's HAIR) and John Lombardi (freeFall's CABARET, Straz Center's JEWTOPIA).

This all-new play is a look at what it takes to become a celebrity in the United States in 2014. This dark comedy is set at the auditions for reality television's most popular talent contest, American Superstar. After a few singers pass through to the next level (There will be a sign-up before each performance for audience members wanting to sing in front of our fictional judges) a young man (Chris Jackson) enters the studio and decides to turn the tables on the judges (Patrick Ryan Sullivan, Stefanie Clouse and John Lombardi) and put them and the entertainment industry on trial in his own warped version of Rome's Colosseum. The audience will get to choose (by text) which of the judges tragically get to go on to the next round. AMERICAN MONKEY questions the very idea of contemporary entertainment and fame in a brash and uncompromising way that calls to mind the style of director and writer Quentin Tarantino. (This show contains adult language and situations and is intended for mature audiences only)

Tickets can be purchased at www.freefalltheatre.com or by calling the freeFall Theatre Box Office at (727) 498-5205. Student, Senior and group discounts are available. The theatre is located at 6099 Central Avenue in St. Petersburg.
