Audiences and critics agree with this statement. Therefore, FST has announced that Dancing Lessons has been extended a second time, now playing through March 14 in the Keating Theatre. The critics have weighed in on this warm and inspiring production. The Sarasota Herald-Tribune says it is filled with, "Intelligence and sensitivity." Sarasota Magazine describes this poignant production as "Touching" with "Heart and humor."

Performing to sold-out houses and standing ovations, Jason Cannon shares his excitement for the opportunity to continue his role as leading character, Ever Montgomery. "This show has been an absolute joy and privilege to perform for this community. What is especially fulfilling is tuning in to the audience each night. They have been so generous with their energy and their appreciation. At every performance, Vanessa and I are graced with gasps, buffeted with laughter, and inspired with sighs. The applause at the end is barely even the icing on the cake. What truly matters is hearing, feeling, and even seeing the audience being changed, provoked, and uplifted in real time."

Playing opposite Cannon, Vanessa Morosco further comments on the joy of experiencing this story from center stage. "The story of Senga and Ever has inspired so many audience members to share their own stories with us. Frequently, I find myself greeted at the stage door by several audience members who are eager to tell me just how much they have enjoyed the show. They have already expressed that through their applause, gasps, and laughter, but then they reciprocate by sharing how it relates to their own personal experiences. One particularly memorable evening, an audience member tried to tell me how special her experience was watching Dancing Lessons. Finding herself at a loss for words and overcome with emotions, she simply reached out and hugged me. It was beautiful."

As Director of this soul-stirring piece of theatre, Kate Alexander sums up the experience of this show and the impact of its message stating, "What is so surprising and wonderful is how this tender, funny, and ultimately healing play embraces anyone who has ever felt 'different.' The fact that we are extending it to reach more people than we ever thought would be attending - This is what makes theatre gratifying."
