American Stage Theatre Company's new Cabaret Series performed in the Susan R. Hough performance space in the Raymond James Theatre continues with four new productions in April, TOO LEGIT TO QUIT, SHAKESPEARE OPEN MIC, ROMANTIC JAZZ JAM, HAVING FLASHBACKS and the return of THE DUMB SHOW.

Friday, April 9 at 6:30 and 8:15 p.m.

Saturday, April 10 at 6:30 and 8:15 p.m.

Sunday, April 11 at 5 p.m.

All tickets: $15 at door, $20 in advance

From Puccini to Aretha, from Harold Arlen to Kelly Clarkson, from Opera to Popera. Classically trained singers, Iskra and Sargent, deliver a delightful array of songs ranging from Broadway show tunes and contemporary favorites, to classical standards.

OPEN MIC NIGHT with the St. Petersburg Shakespeare Company

April 16 at 8:15 p.m.

April 17 at 8:15 p.m.

April 18 at 6 p.m.

All tickets: $15 at door $20 in advance

Join us for three nights of open-mic Shakespeare. Read your favorite sonnet, perform your favorite soliloquy, act out your favorite scene with your friends -- or share your AP English essay on Hamlet. As long as it's by, about, related to or inspired by the Bard of Avon, it's fair game. Tread the boards, or just sit back and enjoy the iambic meter! 

HAVING FLASHBACKS? A '60s Coffee House Cabaret: Featuring Liz Hollister

April 30-May 15, Fridays and Saturdays at 9 p.m.

Flash back to the flower power, counter culture '60s with Liz Hollister as she surveys the music that served as the sound track to an unforgettable era! A veteran of the Greenwich Village club scene and long-standing entertainer, Liz Hollister has been hailed as an interpreter of the music and culture of our last century and has just recently received accolades for her recent Woodstock/60s revival performances. Her brand of performance skills coupled with her deliciously, unforgettably voice are strictly top shelf. So put some flowers in your hair, some granny glasses on your nose, sing along and return to the Summer of Love. The playlist will include songs by: Joan Baez, Buffalo Springfield, John Sebastian, Beatles, Ritchie Havens, Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, CSNY, Otis Redding, The Kinks, Buffy St Marie, Donovan, Incredible String Band, Cream, Fred Neil, Janis Joplin, Kingston Trio, Mamas and Papas, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Del Shannon, Everly Brothers, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, The Band and The Byrds!

Monk, Miles, Coltrane, the songs of Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin and many other joys are offered by the jazz styling's of pianist Vince di Mura. The same arranging gifts that graced American Stage's productions of MY WAY and I LEFT MY HEART will grace you evening as his romantic vision trips the audience through some of the most beloved music of the American century. And one never knows who will show up to jam, so it is certain to be a lovely and surprising night on the town!

THE DUMB SHOW

Featuring Gavin Hawke and Ricky Wayne

THE DUMB SHOW is a hilarious and irreverent take on the world, starting with a simple audience suggestion, after which Hawk and Wayne create a series of characters and scenes that showcase the best and worst of humanity, and will have you laughing and shaking your head in wonder at the same time.
