Phil Riveness Named President of History Theatre; New Board Members Confirmed

On August 5th, 2013, Phil Riveness and Melissa Weldon were elected as the new President and Vice President for History Theatre's Board of Directors at the Annual Board Meeting, held at the Lilydale Pool and Yacht Club. Riveness has been a member of History Theatre's Board of Directors since 2008, is active with the Board's Governance committee, and is a retiree Associate Administator from the Noran Nerological Clinic in Minneapolis. Weldon has been a member of History Theatre's Board of Directors since 2011, is active with the Education committee, and is a Partner at Larson King, LLP in downtown Saint Paul.

Riveness and Weldon are assuming the roles of President and Vice President from Jeffrey K. Peterson (former Director of Government Relations, Ecolab) and Connie Braziel (Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer, Minnesota Zoo). Peterson served as Board President for three seasons, from 2010-2013, and Braziel as Vice President for five seasons, from 2008-2013. They will both continue their service on the History Theatre Board of Directors as board and committee members.

History Theatre's Board of Directors also recently elected two new members: Gene Link, Assistant General Counsel of the Target Corporation, and Ken B. Peterson, Commissioner for Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. Link joined the Board of Directors in April of this year, and Peterson was elected during the Annual Meeting on August 5th.

History Theatre's Board of Directors is now eighteen members strong. In addition to new board members Link and Peterson, joining Riveness and Weldon for the 2013-2014 season are returning board members Tyler Zehring (Treasurer), Roger Brooks (Secretary), John Apitz, Wayne Hamilton, Jillian Hoffman, Susan Kimberly, TEd Lentz, Allen McNee, Gene Merriam, Henri Minette, Jon Rusten and Geoffrey Sylvester.
