Come and witness the birth of a nation with The Alpha Players and a live orchestra when they present "1776" at the Florissant Civic Center Theatre, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, 7, 8 & 9, 2016.

A rousing piece of theatre, "1776" puts a human face to the pages of history. It's the summer of 1776, and the nation is ready to declare independence...if only our founding fathers can stop bickering and agree to do it! Freedom and humanity ring true as John Adams tries to lead the way with legendary characters Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson to break the shackles of British monarchy and sign a declaration of independence. "1776" is a funny, insightful and compelling drama.

Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm with a Sunday matinee at 2 pm. Tickets are priced at $12-$20 and can be purchased by calling the box office at 314-921-5678 or online at florissantmo.thundertix.com.
