The Institute of the Arts Barcelona offers new programme ELITE PERFORMER. The Elite Performer programme is unique and has been designed by the IAB in consultation with industry professionals to fill a need in performing arts training.

Experience has proved that talented performers who already have completed full-time training need a short intensive period of expert coaching prior to embarking on their career in the entertainment industry.

Through intensive classes and the development of repertoire, participants will hone existing technical skills, improve fitness, practise audition techniques, prepare personal marketing materials and build self-confidence.

To deliver this level of training the course numbers have been limited to 22. This means that participants are able to benefit from one-to-one mentoring and evaluation at all times and in all disciplines.

Physical fitness and well-being are vitally important. The staff will work with the participant, to elevate them to a level appropriate to the demands of a rigorous career.

To be awarded one of the limited places on Elite Performer, hopeful participants will need to demonstrate passion, high levels of skill and technique, artistry, determination, leadership skills and openness to learning.

On completion of Elite Performer, graduates will have experienced a high work rate similar to the demands made in a professional environment.

Each morning will have three hours of Core Technique Modules. Two afternoons a week will be given to Workshops in singing, voice and acting. Three afternoons a week will be devoted to Masterclasses and repertoire. At the end of every week participants will perform their repertoire in front of an audience.

There are networking opportunities through visiting guest artists and Masterclasses in audition techniques. The IAB also has a direct link to one of the largest international live entertainment production companies. At the end of the course the graduate will showcase their work to an invited group of casting directors, agents, choreographers and industry leaders.

IAB Director of Dance, Jenn Blake oversees the programme with the assistance of Dance Lecturers Eva Martz and Robert Foley. Visiting professional performers, mostly from USA and UK, carefully selected for their individual specialisations support Jenn and her team.

The programme is centered on commercial dance: jazz, tap, commercial and street, contemporary, and ballet. Supporting training includes: singing, musical theatre, and acting, with additional workshops that include: aerial, gymnastics, circus, showgirl, audition techniques, and professional preparation.

The IAB will work with each participant to develop his or her portfolio to industry standards. This will include professional photographs, videos, website and coaching on personal branding and self-promotion.

The programme will transform the student into a professional performer, with the self-assurance and stamina to deal with many of the dance styles required by choreographers and casting directors in commercial stage and entertainment companies across the world.
