The South Bend Community School Corporation announces the opening of it's 2016 Annual Summerfly high school musical, Disney's The Little Mermaid.

Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney Theatricals has produced a breath-taking Broadway musical that is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. The Little Mermaid is about a mermaid who dreams of the world above the sea and gives up her voice to find love. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this underwater fable will capture the hearts of the audience and offers a fantastic creative opportunity for rich costumes and sets, and the chance to perform some of the most irresistible and best-known songs from the past 30 years, including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl," and "Part of Your World."

Performances will be held at Clay High School's Performing Arts Center on July 14, 15, and 16 at 7:00pm with a 2:00pm matinee on July 16. Tickets are $12 at the door or $10 in advance for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 for children 16 and under. Matinee tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. The cast is made up of student performers and musicians from numerous public and private high schools across the Michiana area. Starting June 20, tickets will be available at Clay High School between 1:00pm and 6:00pm. For information or tickets, call 243-7242.
