Tim Plewman in THE LAST MOUSTACHE

Tim Plewman will soon be back in Cape Town with THE LAST MOUSTACHE, an explosively funny, emotional roller-coaster ride that will leave you breathless. After sold out performances at the Grahamstown Arts Festival and The Market Theatre, THE LAST MOUSTACHE will be at the Baxter Golden Arrow Studio Theatre for a limited season from today 5 - 23 November 2014.

Down in the bunker under Berlin you will meet the last remaining Hitler double, Hiener Schmidt, a hapless (once famous - sort of) actor forced at gunpoint to become the Nazi Fuhrer. In an epic production, written, directed and produced by Reich's Minister, Dr. Joseph Goebels, who is second in charge of the entire Nazi Party, Heiner finally faces his demons and reclaims his identity. It is 30 April 1945 and the world does not know if Hitler is alive or dead, or what plans the Nazi powers have to keep the war going. Everything is conspiracy and conjecture.

Keeping the audience glued to his every word, acclaimed actor Plewman brings this one-man satire to life. No stranger to one-man shows, and best known for his award-winning and iconic DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN, Plewman transports the audience back to 1945 with flair and ease.

Plewman has a diverse and distinguished career as an actor, dancer, humourist, director, writer and producer. Starting out in musicals in 1975, his drama career began in 1978 when he was given the opportunity of taking over the leading role in the comedy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, on condition he was on in 48 hours. This feat accomplished, Plewman has become one of the most sought after actors in South Africa. Equally at home in both comedy and drama, he has starred in productions from farce to drama to musicals, on TV, film and on stage. Tim has won numerous awards, including the Fleur du Cap Award for Best Actor of the Year (TWO INTO ONE), the Vita Comedy Award for Best Actor (DOUBLES), Best Comedy Production (HEEL AGAINST THE HEAD), Best Comedic Play (THE INSATIABLES) and the Vita Best Performance by an Actor in a Comedy Role for his signature one-man show, DEFENDING THE CAVEMAN, crossed the divides of race, gender, age, culture and religion to become a South African icon, the only show to become one of the things you have to see if visiting the country, along with the Big Five, Cape Town and a gold mine.

Written and directed by Greg Viljoen, THE LAST MOUSTACHE brings this conspiracy to a startling conclusion in an extremely funny, poignant way that is surprisingly relevant to today's world. It's Hitler, as you've never seen him before, as Plewman dons the last moustache!
