Billy Langa in TSWALO/SOURCE

In TSWALO/SOURCE, lyrical prose, poetry and physical storytelling entwine to interrogate the rules that govern life on earth: power, creation, truth, connection and intuition. Directed by Mahlatsi Mokgonyana, the 50-minute show is described by writer-performer Billy Langa as the 'expression of his source'.

Billy Langa is a graduate of the Market Theatre Laboratory, the co- founder and Artistic Director of the Kofifi Theatre Company, based in Sophiatown at the Trevor Huddleston Memorial Centre (THMC), and is also a founding member of The Movement RSA. His theatre credits include LITTLE FOOT at the Market Theatre, THIRST at Afrovibes, PASSAGES at the National Arts Festival, NTWA YA DIPAKA at the Wits Amphitheatre and his own solo theatre performance NGWEDI at the African Freedom Station.

Mahlatsi Mokgonyana is a multi-disciplinary artist who works as a director, performer, storyteller and stage manager. His directing credits include NINE TO FIVERS ANTHEM and RUNNING at the Wits Theatre So Solo Festival, SEE ME NAKED at the Market Theatre Laboratory and COCKROACH: A TRILOGY. In addition to TSWALO/SOURCE, his other current project is JUST ANTIGONE, an adaptation of Sophocles' classic play, which will be staged at the PopArt Centre and the National Arts Festival. Mokgonyana is also a facilitator for the Hillbrow Theatre Project and a founding member of The Movement RSA theatre company.

TSWALO/SOURCE runs at the Alexander Bar's Upstairs Theatre from 16 - 18 June at 19:00, with tickets costing R90 - R100. Bookings can be made online at the Alexander Bar website or purchased at the bar. For telephone bookings and enquiries, call 021 300 1652.
