THE THREE LITTLE PIGS Runs Through Feb 9 at Baxter Golden Arrow Studio
THE THREE LITTLE PIGS runs through 9 February at Baxter Golden Arrow Studio.
Who's afraid of the big bad wolf? Since opening at the Baxter Theatre last month, THE THREE LITTLE PIGS has received rave reviews across the board. The play, directed by Tara Notcutt (...MISKIEN, MAFEKING ROAD), who also co-wrote it with the actors Rob van Vuuren (LIVE!, THE MOST AMAZING SHOW), Albert Pretorius (...MISKIEN, DOODSNIKKE) and James Cairns (DIRT, SIE WEISS ALLES), is a taut psychological thriller set in a world where ANIMAL FARM meets RESERVOIR DOGS, giving rise to a dark and unexpected take on the classic children's story. THE THREE LITTLE PIGS is a delightfully twisted collaboration between these multi-award winning artists, with a creative team that includes Juanita Ferreira for set design, Matt Lansing for lighting design and original music by Gary Thomas.
Two good pigs are dead. The mutilated bodies of the brothers, decorated police officers both were found in their respective homes on the same night of a savage and grizzly revenge crime. The prime suspect, a wolf, is still at large... and he wants the third little pig dead. THE THREE LITTLE PIGS is a riveting and subversive adaptation of an age old tale.
THE THREE LITTLE PIGS premiered on the Arena programme at the National Arts Festival Grahamstown 2012 to excellent notices and sold out houses. It was here that it picked up invitations to travel to three other international Fringe festivals, namely the Fringe World in Perth, Australia; the New York Fringe in the United States and the Amsterdam Fringe Festival in the Netherlands.
THE THREE LITTLE PIGS runs at the Baxter Golden Arrow Studio until 9 February 2013 with tickets from R60 and R120 via Computicket. This production is not suitable for children.
